In a series of alarming fire incidents on October 13, 2025, Mumbai's eastern suburbs witnessed significant devastation. A massive blaze engulfed multiple automobile spare parts shops in Kurla West, while a separate fire in Navi Mumbai's Kharghar area led to the rescue of seven residents by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Kurla West: Inferno Destroys Auto Shops
Early on Monday morning, around 2:30 AM, a fire broke out in several motor spare parts shops near the gurdwara on CST Road in Kurla West. The blaze rapidly spread through approximately 15 to 20 shops, destroying valuable inventory including tyres, electrical wiring, and scrap materials. The fire was declared a Level II emergency and was brought under control after nearly four hours of intense firefighting efforts. Over 10 fire brigade vehicles, including eight special units, were deployed to extinguish the flames. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation
Navi Mumbai: CRPF Rescues Seven Residents
In a separate incident on Sunday, October 12, a fire broke out in the Tricity Symphony residential tower in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The blaze, caused by a short circuit in the duct, led to intense smoke on the 17th and 18th floors. The CRPF's Rapid Action Force (RAF) responded swiftly, rescuing seven residents, including three women, who were found in a semi-conscious state. The rescued individuals were immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment
Fire Safety Concerns and Investigations
Both incidents have raised serious concerns about fire safety measures in densely populated urban areas. The Kurla fire, in particular, highlights the risks associated with the storage of flammable materials in commercial zones. Authorities are conducting thorough investigations to determine the causes and to prevent future occurrences.
