Dentsu Launches Sports & Entertainment Division in India, Appoints Yosuke Murai as Head

In a strategic move to tap into India's vibrant cultural and entertainment landscape, global marketing leader Dentsu has officially launched its Sports & Entertainment division in India. This marks the first dedicated market under Dentsu’s global expansion, following its debut at the Cannes Lions in June 2025.

India's dynamic blend of sports, music, cinema, and festivals offers a unique platform for brands to engage with audiences. Dentsu aims to leverage this cultural energy to create authentic, impactful brand experiences that resonate with fans, creators, and communities across metros, tier-2 towns, and international platforms.

At the forefront of this initiative is Yosuke Murai, appointed as the Head of Dentsu Sports & Entertainment India. With nearly two decades of experience in media, advertising, and corporate strategy, Murai has been instrumental in executing award-winning campaigns globally. His leadership is expected to bridge culture and commerce, driving innovative campaigns and original IPs across Japanese anime, sports & esports, influencer marketing, and entertainment content.

Dentsu Sports & Entertainment India will focus on connecting brands with audiences through:
  •  Esports & Live Entertainment: Engaging digitally native audiences such as Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
  •  Creator Economy: Collaborating with influencers to amplify brand messages.
  •  Cultural Moments: Tapping into festivals, sports events, and entertainment to create memorable brand experiences.

The division has already showcased its creative impact through campaigns like Heineken 0.0’s Coachella experience, achieving 44 million views and 37 million reach, and the UEFA Champions League activation, generating 43 million views and 23 million reach across India.

Supported by Harsha Razdan, CEO of Dentsu South Asia, and Yoshinobu Ise, Global Head of Dentsu Sports & Entertainment, the India division aims to offer business opportunities to partners such as IP rights owners. The initiative is set to redefine how brands connect with audiences, shaping moments that matter and driving lasting impact.

With India's growing significance in the global cultural and commercial landscape, Dentsu's entry into the market is timely. The launch of Dentsu Sports & Entertainment in India opens a new chapter for connecting people, ideas, and communities at scale, offering brands a unique opportunity to engage meaningfully with audiences across sports, entertainment, and content.
